MCI Communication currently known as MCI Inc, at one point, was the second largest long distance phone carrier in the United States. At the inception of the company co-founders along with the investors named the company Long Distance Discount Services Inc, LDDS.
Approximately two years later one of the co-founder was promoted to the highest rank of CEO. Management at the corporation wasted little time in actualizing the organization full potential and immediately began to rapidly and aggressively pursue the purchase of smaller companies in the communication industry.
Co-Founder Bernard John "Bernie" Ebbers was name the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), changing it' s name from LDDS Inc, to WorldCom after the name of one of the smaller company they had purchase. Ebbers served as Chief Executive Officer from 1985 until April 2002. The beginning or what others may consider the end of MCI Communications.
The company since then has experienced some well publicized setbacks, and has gone through many major changes, including a partnership with Verizon. Needless to say their reputation has taken a severe whipping, from the public as well as (FCC) Federal Communication Commission, as well as the public in general.
